After an internal reshuffling within DG COMP, the directorate ‘Markets and Cases IV: Digital Platforms’ is nearing its final set up. It is headed by Alberto Bacchiega and composed of three units:

  • Digital Platforms I (led by Lucia Bonova, from EVP Vestager’s cabinet);
  • Digital Platforms II (currently in the process of picking a Head of Unit);
  • and Digital Platforms III, whose Head of Unit is Thomas Kramler and which also includes Lea Zuber, formerly Head of Sector for the DMA Task Force.

This long-awaited reshuffle happened on Monday 16 January 2023, shortly before the next DMA workshop was announced in the press. The latter will take place at the beginning of March and cover rules for app stores in light of the DMA.
