Following commencement of the DMCC Act's consumer protection aspects on 6 April 2025, the CMA now holds direct enforcement powers, enabling it to impose remedies (including financial penalties), directions and customer compensation measures. An “Approach” document, published to coincide with the commencement, sets out the CMA’s planned approach for consumer enforcement and engagement over the next 12 months.
